I relocated from Seattle USA to Shizuoka Japan when I retired in October 2020. I knew Shizuoka was famous for both wood products and model companies based here. I was delighted to discover WoodyJoe which has modernized traditional wooden model kits. Their precise, laser-cut pieces are fun to assemble into beautiful artworks.
I started with a local scene from ‘The 53 Stations of Tokaido’. I enjoyed building this diorama and display it with pride. Next, I constructed a classic lamp for our tatami guest room – and gave it my own spiral twist. The instructions are easy and English translation is available if needed.
Now I am ready for a more challenging project. It is exciting to open the box for WoodyJoe’s Hirosaki Castle. Even blooming cherry trees are included. My wife suggests that we visit this famous castle in Aomori after I finish this quality 1:150 scale model. I’ll take my time and appreciate each step.

2020年の10月に退職後、アメリカのシアトルから、ここ「模型で有名な静岡」に引っ越して来ました。昔ながらの木の模型を、近代的に作るWoodyJoeと出会えて嬉しいです。正確にレーザーで切られた木を使って、美しいアートにする楽しさは格別です。 初めに作成したのは東海道五十三次の地元の風景で、楽しく作り、プライドを持って飾ってます。
次に作ったのは、客間/日本間用の美しいフロアーランプでした。この次は、もう少し難しい、1/150スケールの青森の弘前城にチャレンジ！ 桜の木まで付いてます！時間をかけて楽しく作りたいと思います。出来上がったら、実際の
弘前城にぜひ行ってみたいです。
